funk soul brother

Right about now, I'm about half way done my work term at YoWoChAs. It's been reallllly great. Mosquitoes are huge, but super slow meaning I kill about 1.6 million a day.

I've had two days off after about two weeks of work (we went to Jasper in between, but since I didn't come home, it didn't feel like days off). It feels good, but at the same time awkward. I'm used to waking up and having to walk 50 metres to the office to use the washroom. At home, I just have to hold my pee in for a five second walk.

I'm used to sleeping at night to the sound of frogs and other animals at camp. At home, I turn on the stereo for some background sounds.

At home, I eat whenever, wherever. I'm used to set meal times at camp.

I don't drink out at camp. I miss drinking.

At home, I tell people when I go poo poo. At camp, I tell people when I go poo poo.

i didn't buy a pickle, i bought some bubble gum

I haven't blogged in a loonnnnnnnnng time, and I think right now is a good time since I'm at camp.

I am working at Camp YoWoChAs, which is in the hamlet of Fallis on Lake Wabamun. I am a Spring Outdoor Programmer, so I basically am a camp counsellor for school and corporate groups who come in. It's great out here. Great food, great people, see you tonight. There's fun stuff like the ropes course, the zipline, and the climbing wall (spinny holds!!). Campfire songs are sweet too. I am starting to learn some and soon I will have to lead them!!! That will be my karaoke substitute. We have three people working here and they are from Australia. Sweet accents, I'm trying to pick it up along with the words they use (example: reckon for think, cut for disappointed, boot for trunk, chips for fries, etc.).

The drive back to camp today was kinda weird. I was in the passing lane just after I passed a car and I was going about 130 - 140 km/h. All of a sudden we hear this whirring like a window was partially opened and then a big snap kind of sound and then I look in the side view mirror and it looked as if I ran over a truck tire retread. But I didn't see it in front. So I pull over and we go out to investigate and it was the plastic shroud around my front driver-side tire that ripped off. This is the same area where I recently had my car repaired because of the lady that hit me (the front driver-side fender). So right now all the guts are exposed, like the washer fluid resevoir, suspension bits, miscellaneous electronics, etc. I'll have to get it fixed the next time I'm back in town.

Until next time.
