negative shout out

This burlap sack beating goes to Bob Cole and Harry Neale, the CBC commentators. Bob Cole makes so many mistakes, it seems like he isn't at the game. Watching from the TV, even I can see what the ref is calling, and he's in the arena! Come on now. And can't you say anything positive about the Oilers? The Canadian team that is broadcasting on your Canadian channel? All they talk about is how amazing Cam Ward is, how good the Carolina power play is, and how sucky the Oilers power play is. They were talking like the Oilers had already lost. The cup is half full Bob and Harry, half full.

Half shout out: Carolina national anthem singer, Holly Wilver. She's no Mariah, but she's a looker.

Heyyyyy yoooooooooo!

work and the skulls

Just a couple points about work.
  • The gloves that the Tokyo taxi drivers wear aren't just for show. Driving lots makes the steering wheel sticky and palm turns grippy, so I'm guessing the white gloves keep things smooth.
  • When going full time, I go through a tank of gas in about a day and a half.
  • Edmonton has some horrible side streets. I clench whenever a pothole pops up in front of me. Some are big enough for small animals to hide in.
  • Left-turns suck. When I'm sweeping an area, I try to make it so I just do right turns. Trying to cross or left-turn onto a busy street takes a lot of patience.
  • There are so many people driving during the day! You'd think people are working, but I still have lots of traffic problems during the day. The night time is the best to drive.
  • Brake fade is very noticeable after driving stop-and-go for 3+ hours. Sometimes it feels like I have no brakes!
  • The Dell screen works like shit in the sun. That's why I prefer the night or when it's raining.
  • My car's alternator doesn't put out enough juice to power the modem and laptop when idling. I have to constantly unplug and replug the laptop or else the inverter shuts off automatically.
  • The program I use is the devil. I've had to redrive a couple sectors because of saving errors. Partially my fault, but come on, it doesn't tell you if you are overwriting another file.
Now, The Skulls. (I finally just got this on DVD)
  • This movie is very similar to Antitrust (or Antitrust is very similar to The Skulls, since The Skulls came out first). Same story of a stand-up, nerdy guy who "sells out" to join the cool kids. Then the cool kids kills the guys best friend and the guy starts snooping around. He finds out who did it and proceeds to tear the mahfucker down. I like (and own) both.
  • So many people in this movie. We got the P. Walk (Paul Walker), the guy from The Practice, Shooter McGavin, Gil Grissom, and of course we have Charlie Conway (Joshua Jackson).
  • The rowing scene in the beginning makes me want to join rowing again.
  • A Skull above any other!

shout out

This shout out goes out to Kal Tire. Today, during one of my drives, I discovered a nail stuck in one of my tires. I pulled into a Kal Tire and the guy took my info and I watched some PTI (Pardon the Interruption) while they checked out the tire. About 20 minutes later, a guy calls me and told me they just took the nail out and to come back in 150 km to get my wheel nuts re-torqued. They didn't even charge me! That's awesome. I was ready to pay for the repair, but free is super sweet. They even cleaned my tires so that the sidewalls were all shiny. Thanks Kal Tire!
