I've had the same runners for about four years now. That's waayyyyyy to much mileage for any pair of shoes to provide any good cushioning. So for this track season, I thought I'd reward myself by getting a nice pair. According to the Running Room salesperson, I have a neutral gait (as opposed to the overpronation that some people battle), so I don't need a shoe with stability support. I chose the Mizuno Wave Creation 7 and I ordered it with a big order that my coach set up for us. Just gotta wait for them to come in now.
Last night was my volleyball banquet. The school has a banquet every year at the end of the season and there is a nice dinner, people dress up, we give out awards, and get door prizes. I won a $25 gift card to the Nike store and it was sweet! I went to the store, which is awesome, and found exactly what I wanted. I got a pair of Nike Free running shoes. These are minimal and are supposed to just give you some protection and mimic the barefoot as much as possible. The theory is that people get injured a lot because their shoes offer too much support and so the muscles in the feet weaken and therefore you get injuries. The Frees are used in training to build those muscles back up, so that the feet become stronger. I'll use these for light workouts and weight sessions, but it won't replace my Mizunos for high impact jump stuff. They were only 50 bucks, so with my gift card, they came to about 27 bucks. That's a damn good deal. Damn they're sexy.
